Overview
The Rajaganapathi Temple is situated at Salem and is devoted to God Rajaganapathi. The temple is believed to have been built 400 years ago. Kings believed God Vinayaka to be a force that would defend them from evils. Since the region was hilly with forests, it was then known as Shaila Desam. The famous Sugavaneswarar temple is located very close to this temple.
About The Temple
This sanctuary is a sister sanctuary of Sri Sugavaneswarar Temple, Salem. Lord Sugavaneshwara has favoured Sugabrammarishi the child of Ved Vyas. At the point when an extraordinary chariot was planned and made for Lord Sugavaneshwara Lord Ganapathy was likewise put at the point where the auto would begin its ride. This Lord Ganapathy got to be distinctly popular because of his preeminent powers in atracting enthusiasts and evacuating their issues. Along these lines another sanctuary was constructed for Lord Rajaganapathi in this place called Theradi. At the point when Lord Sugavaneshwara (Lord Siva) is conveyed to the chariot for Vaikasi Visagam, it is for Sri Rajaganapathi that the main pooja would be performed.
About The Deity
Principal Rajaganapathi is positioned with Angusam, Pasam in his grasp and with Abaya, Varatha muthras and with Tusk in one hand and Modagam in the other hand. Like in other Ganapathi Temples the Mooshika (Rat) is not seen inverse to the Lord as in different sanctuaries in light of the fact that here the Lord Rajaganapathi is in a sitting stance on Mooshika.
Pooja
Daily pujas are performed from 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. with abishek etc. On the Chaturti days, (fourth day from the new moon or full moon day) Ganapathi Yagna and special pujas are followed regularly.
Festivals

During the vinayaga Chathurthi and Tamil New Year a special darshan of lord adorned in Thanga Kavasam (Gold Kavasam) is the highlight of the Chathurthi celebrations. On the 13th day with special homam and abhishekam Vasantha Urchava is carried out for the Lord. Special poojas are also performed to the Lord on Sankatahara Sathurthis.
