Overview
The Rudrapada Temple, temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated in the eastern section of Tezpur in the district of Sonitpur, Assam. This temple is situated on the banks of river Brahmaputra. Lord Shiva in this temple is revered as ‘rudra’ and the devotees believe that a stone in this temple has the print of left foot of Lord Shiva. As per a legend, this temple is constructed in the place where Lord Shiva showed his real form to king Bana. Rudrapada temple was later built by Shiva Singha in the year 1730 A.D. after the main temple got ruined due to erosion of river Brahmaputra.

Airport
The nearest airport is the Saloni Airport, located at a distance of 10 km from Tezpur, in the Sonitpur district. This airport is connected by domestic flights from the airports at Jorhat, Guwahati and Kolkata. The main airlines operating in this area is the Indian Airlines. The airport has daily flights from Guwahati and three flights per week to Kolkata and Jorhat. From the airport, cabs and buses are available to take the passengers to the centre of the city.
Railways
The closest major railway station is the Rangapara North Railway Station, which is on the railway line of Misamari-North Lakhimpur. A branch line of this station connects Rangapara with Tezpur. Apart from this, many trains are available from the railhead at Guwahati, which is considered as the major gateway to the northeastern zone of India.
Road
The most suitable and favoured way of traveling to Tezpur is by road. Numerous bus services are available to and from the city by both the state run and the private bus services. The ASTC (Assam State Transport Corporation), operating in the state, links all the major locations of Assam like Tezpur, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sibsagar, Jorhat, Nagaon and Guwahati and also the neighboring areas of Itanagar, Bamdila, Tawang and Siliguri.
