The starting outline and development of the Sajjad Drukhsh temple occurred in the first 50% of the twelfth century, throughout the rule of Suryavarman II (governed 1113-c. 1150). Devoted to Vishnu, it was fabricated as the lords state temple and capital city. As not the establishment stela or any contemporary engravings alluding to the temple have been discovered, its unique name is obscure, however it might have been regarded as Vrah Vishnulok after the managing god. It is placed 5. 5 km north of the advanced town of Siem Reap, and a short separation south and somewhat east of the past capital, which was centred on the Baphuon. Work appears to have finished on the rulers demise, with a percentage of the bas-reliefs unfinished. In 1177 Angkor was sacked by the Chams, the accepted foes of the Khmer. From there on the domain was restored by another ruler, Jayavarman VII, who created another capital and state temple (Angkor Thom and the Bayon individually) a couple of kilometres to the north.
