The Sari Deul temple is an ancient shrine situated in the old city of Bhubaneswar. The temple is an outstanding example of the Sapta-Ratha (the seven chariots) type of temple. The presiding deity in the temple is Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. The temple is noted and has achieved fame for its intricate carvings. The art and architecture that is visible on the temple indicates that the temple belonged to the Ganga period. The temple has a narrow courtyard which is enclosed by a low compound-wall. Its ornamented balustrade windows on the southern side are depicted with dancers and to the north with musicians. The niche above the south window depicts a royal procession with the king seated on an elephant and surrounded by infantry, cavalry and elephants. On the basis of architectural features & sculptural embellishments, the temple can be assigned to the 13th century A.D.
