Overview
Mankeswar, a village in Osmanabad district's Bhoom Tehsil, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in and around the district. Mankeswar is primarily known for its temples, the two most famous of them being Shiva Temple and Goddess Sathwai Devi Temple.
About The Temple
Goddess Sathwai Devi temple is beside the Lord Shiva temple. People around this village follow a tradition called Jawal. This is a ritual in which a baby boy of the age of three years is brought here. Hairs of the baby boy are cut and sacrifice of a male goat is given in devotion to the Sathwai Devi. Meal from the goat is prepared here and first served as a naivydya (offering) to goddess and to all the invitees. Devotees have holistic faith on goddess.
