Overview
This temple is at a distance of just 8 Kms from Karwar. It is believed to be a thousand years old. Shejjeshwar temple is among one of the five temples where pieces of Atma-lingam, which Ravana was carrying, are believed to have been dropped.
Shejjeshwar Temple is otherwise known as Siddeshwar Temple. According to belief, this temple is one among the five temples that constitute the Gokarna history. Another popular legend says that the parts of Atma-lingam taken away by the king Ravana fell at Shejjeshwar Temple.
