Overview
Banpur is a small Village located in the Sisai Block of Gumla District ,Jharkhand State, India. It falls under the Banpur Panchayath. Banpur is situated about 30 KM towards the east from District head quarters Gumla and 69 KM from Ranchi, the state capital.
Banpur is known for an old and popular Shiva temple which is located at the bottom of a hill. There is a pond by the side of this temple where pilgrims take the holy dip and visit the temple to worship the Lord Eashwar. The auspicious occasion of MAHA SHIVARATHRI is celebrated in a grandeur manner with a huge fair organised as part of the festival celebrations.
