Someshwara Temple

Sri Someshwara Temple is a mixture of Hoysala and Chola Art and is being patronized during both the times. The Shiva Linga is in a dancing pose and is bent towards the North. The Parvathi Devi is also dancing and is bent towards the South direction. One can come across the beautifully carved Sri.Suryanarayana which is housed opposite to Shiva Linga, is also beautifully carved with all the nine grahas (Nava Grahas) around it in the prabhavali. This in fact a very rare occurrence of Sri Suryanarayana image. Just outside the temple onto the left is the small sanctum of Sri.Saraswati, this image is typical Hoysala Art and is beautifully decorated. It is an masterpiece and one should have a look at it. Just behind the Someshwara temple is a Dravidian style Panchalinga temple, this appears to be built during the Vijayanagara period or at a later stage.
