Overview
Legend goes that this spot couldn't be annihilated notwithstanding when it was the apocalypse. Needur in Tamil means unceasing spot. As this spot couldn't be crushed even toward the apocalypse by the immense surges pralaya, it is named Needur. Alternate names of the spot are Vagularanyam and Magularanyam.
About The Temple
The Sun God had venerated Mother Veyuru Tholi Ammai in this sanctuary. As Sun-Aditya revered, She is commended as Aditya Varada Ambica. Planet Saturn is inverse Ambica holy place confronting east. The aficionado can have the darshan of Mother and Saturn all the while for evacuation of the unfriendly part of the planet. There is no Navagraha-9 planets-place of worship in the sanctuary. Mother Badrakali in a different holy place had revered Lord in the sanctuary. When in doubt in Hindu traditions, individuals venerate Lord Vinayaka before beginning any work. They then need to take after the exhortation of senior citizens. Ruler Vinayaka in the sanctuary is viewed as senior, experienced and counselor. The three angles are lauded as Chintamani Vinayaka, Selva Maha Vinayaka and Shivananda Vinayaka. Any one beginning a business appeals to Vinayaka in this sanctuary for beneficial results.
About The deity
The main deity is Veyuru Tholiyammai, Aalalasundara Nayagi. The presiding deity is Shiva. He is called as Somanathaswami. His consort is known as Veyurutholi Ammai.
Legend and Stories
Indira the king of Devas could not get a Shiva Linga for his worship in the morning hours when he once came to earth. He gathered the sand from Cauvery, made a Linga for his worship. He also sang a melodious song seeking the dance darshan of the Lord. Lord was pleased with his devotion and granted the darshan he desired and is praised with name Gana Nardana Sankara – Lord who danced to a devotional song. When he left the place, Indira left the Linga made by him here. His finger symbols are visible on the Linga.
Significance
Devotees who are facing delays in wedding matters, concerned with the welfare of children, seeking pardon for wrongs done pray for solutions. Devotees perform special pujas, abishek and offer vastras to Lord and Mother.
