Overview
This is the 18th sthalam on the northern side of river Cauvery. Thiruganasambandar has sung hymns in praise of God Shiva of this temple. Adhi Murthy of the temple God Kiluvai Nathar is under Kiluvai tree in the prakara. There is also a Nandhi before Him. God Subramania with His consorts Valli and Deivanai is in a shrine in the prakara. Sri Vinayaka of the temple is worshiped as God Kadaimudi Vinayaka. The temple is facing west. Cauvery flows westward. About The Temple
The presiding deity Kadaimudinathar (Anthisamrakshaneeswarar) is housed in a west facing shrine. The Ambal shrine dedicated to Abhiramavalli is a west facing one. There are also shrines to Nataraja, Bhairavar and the Tevaram trinity. Inscriptions in this West facing temple from Vikrama Chola's period allude to the god here as Tiruchchadaimudi found close to the temple recommend this stone structure was raised amid the times of Aditya Chola now protected in the Chennai Government Museum.

Legend/Story
Legend has it that Brahma worshipped God Shiva here. The looping of the river Kaveri, in an almost westward flow is considered to be of significance here. Four worship services are offered each day, Arudra Darisanam and Kartikai Deepam are also celebrated here.
