Overview
Heggunda Shri Ram Temple is situated in the little drowsy town of Heggunda in Tumkur District of Karnataka. The directing god of the sanctuary is Lord Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The flagmast before the Heggunda Shri Ram Temple has a legendary significance. Convention relates that Lord Ram, in the wake of directing his Ashwamedha Yaga in his serious go with the stallion, tied the steed, Haya, to this banner pole. After this occurrence the place came to be known as Hayagunda which in course of time changed to Heggunda.
