The Sri Vilakkoli Perumal Temple is located in Kanchipuram and is dedicated to Vilakkoli Perumal. God Brahma was sad that he had no temple in Earth and conducted a yagna dedicated to Shiva. But he failed to invite his wife Saraswathi. So she cursed that there shouldn't be light to conduct the pooja. Brahma approached God Vishnu for the light. Perumal appeared immediately and helped him with the adequate light. As Vishnu gave light, the name "Vilakkoli Perumal" was derived. Later he also helped in Brahma - Saraswathi reunion.
