This temple has a separate shrine for Daraupadi and during the Chithirai brahmmotsavam festival (April - May) God Krishna and the five Pandava brothers Dharma, Bheema, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva are taken in a procession in a wooden cabinet called the Chapparam. According to legend there were some Brahmins who were on a spiritual tour who took rest in this place. They brought along an image of God Perumal which they worshipped, when it was time for them to leave the statue did not budge.
