The Swarnapureeswarar Temple is located in Nallathur and is dedicated to God Shiva. The God is a swayambumurthy facing the east. There is a lotus sculpture with 24 petals in the Chokkattan Mandap. A mahameru is installed under the Feet of Mother Maha Tirupurasundari. The flag post of the temple is seen in front of the shrine of God Muruga. God Sundara Vinayaka, as the very name aptly suggests has a very handsome face in this temple. There is a sculpture of Maha Saraswathi playing the Veena called Karna Vidayini. Those aspiring to go for a higher education and have a good worship Mother Karna Vidayini. The Dwarapalakas at the entrance of shrine are conveniently placed with sufficient space around and the devotee can circumambulate them with prayers. There is a shrine for God Kalasamhara Murthy who fought with God Yama the God of Death to protect Sage Markandeya. Those aspiring longevity perform poojas here. Maha Mryutyanja homa is performed in the temple on Tiruvadhirai day in December - January for longevity of life. The other idols seen here are that of Sri Venugopala with his consorts Rukmini and Satyabama, Dakshinamurthy, Chandikeswara, Sun, Moon, Sri Anjaneya, Navagrahas(the nine planets), divine cow Kamadenu, Bhairava, Sani Bhagwan. God Vinayaka of the temple is praised as Sundara Vinayaka. The Chokkattan Mandap and the lotus sculpture speak volumes of Tamil architectural skills. It is believed that praying from this mandap brings total peace in families. There are shrines for Gods Sundara Vinayaka, Muruga with his consorts Valli and Deivanai, Sri Venugopala with his consorts Rukmini and Satyabama, Dakshinamurthy, Chandikeswara, Sun, Moon, Sri Anjaneya, Navagrahas (the nine planets), divine cow Kamadenu, Bhairava, Sani Bhagwan (Saturn) in the corridor-prakara. During the British rule, Pakoda daughter of the Cuddalore district collector prayed to God Shiva for restoration of her eye sight. As God granted her prayer, she offered a big bell to the temple the sound of which is audible even at a long distance.

Meaning -We worship the fragrant Lord Shiva, who has 3 eyes and who cultivates all beings. May He free me from death, for immortality, as even a cucumber is separated from its bond with the vine.
