Overview : Sri Taleju Bhawani Temple of Goddess Shakti is located in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan, Nepal. The golden idol has four heads and ten arms. The deity is worshipped by Malla dynasty who ruled Nepal during 12th to 18th century. Sri Taleju Bhawani Temple located near golden gate in Bhaktapur is the oldest among the three Taleju Bhawani temples. The second temple in Patan is built in 1667 by King Shree Niwas Malla. The third and the main temple in Kathmandu is built in 1564 by King Mahendra Malla. It is believed that goddess herself indicated to build a temple for her in the form of a yantra.
