Tirunallur Perumanam Temple

The Tirunallur Perumanam Temple is located in Nalloor and is dedicated to God Sivalogathyagesar and prime goddess is Tiruvenneetrumyammai. Sambandhar blesses devotees here in "Kalyana Kolam" with his wife. This temple has 2 prakarams and is spread over an acre. Tall walls line the outer prakaram and the entrance is crowned with a Rajagopuram. A 100 pillared hall in the outer prakaram houses images of Sambandar and his consort. The sanctum is decorated with 50 pillars exhibiting artistic stonework. The temple has 11 Theerthams. This temple is administered by the Dharumapuram Adhinam. Inscriptions from the period of the Imperial Cholas (Raja Raja I, Vikrama, Kulottunga III, Raja Raja III) & Maravarman Parakrama Pandyan recording endowments made to the temple are seen here. The Ambal shrine here was built around the year 1210 CE. There are also separate shrines for Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai. The temple is praised by Saint Tirugnana Sambandar in his Thevaram hymns. This is the 5th God Shiva temple on the northern bank of Cauvery praised in Thevaram hymns.The temple stands majestically facing east with a five tier Rajagopuram. Nanda Mandapam and 100 pillar mandap is next to the tower. Saint Sambandar graces in the 100 pillar mandap with Stotra Poornambikai in wedding posture. Next to this are the shrines of God Shivaloka Thyagarajar and Mother Tiruvennetru Umai Ammai, both facing east. God Vishnu, Sages Kaka, Vasishta, Parasara, Brugu and Jamadagni had worshipped God Shiva in this temple. The marriage of Tirugnanasambandar with Sthothra Poornambikai was held at this Shivasthalam. Goddess Parvati hereself personally invited all the guests who came to attend the marriage. There is a separate shrine for Sambandar and his wife inside the temple.

Meaning -We worship the fragrant Lord Shiva, who has 3 eyes and who cultivates all beings. May He free me from death, for immortality, as even a cucumber is separated from its bond with the vine.
