Overview
Tirupuram is a village in Trivandrum district in the state of Kerala, India. Tirupuram village is 6 km away from Neyyattinkara, 25 km away from the capital city Trivandrum. The famous Tirupuram Shiva Temple is situated here. Tirupuram is also very near to the Poovar, Vizhinjam and Kovalam. This Village is famous for Shiv-rathri festival. There is a story behind the name Tirupuram. It is believed that this is the place where lord Shiva sits after the Tripura dahanam. Thus the village got the name Tripuram which later got changed to Tirupuram.
