The temple is a Thevara Vaippu Sthalam. The front and the rear entrances to the temple are decorated by two Gopurams, comprising 2 prakarams along with a treasure of sculptural work. The Adhrnareeswarar image found in the niche of the sanctum represents Parvathi devi constituting the right half of Shiva, contrary to the custom, where she resides in his left. The temple has of the period of Uttama Cholan besides his mother Sembiyan Mahadevi are found in the temple.Some more images here are that of Sambandar,Natarajar, Appar, Bhikshatanar, Vinayakar, Dakshinamurthy, Ardhanareeswarar, Lingodbhavar, Agastyar, Kalyanasundarar,Kankalamurthy. Some more pictures of Veenadhara Dakshinamurthy, Kalarimurthy, Bhikshatanar, Durga and Subramaniyar are also found. Daily six worship services are held .
