This temple is located in Virupakshapura Village in Mulbagal taluk of Kolar district, Karnataka. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva in the form of Shiva Linga. There are two Shivlingas in this temple Athma Linga and Marga-Darsh-Neshwara Linga. According to mythology Sage Atreya was doing penance in front of Marga-Darsh-Neshwara Linga for several decades. The lord pleased with his devotion gifted him the Athma Linga which he installed in the temple. The temple also has a shrine for Goddess Bagalamukhi.
