Overview
Ambhajogai is a town that has municipal council, taluk and subdivision in Beed district, Maharashtra, India. The town is named Ambhajogai after goddess Ambhabai - Yogeswari whose heritage temple is located here and is visited by people from all over Maharashtra, mostly from the Konkan region. Ambejogai is native of Mukand Raj who wrote Vivek Sindhu and showed Brahma on his palm. The saint poet Dasopant also had stayed here.
There are three temples of Yogeswari Devi in Maharashtra. One is at Ambhajogai; other is in Lanja near Rathnagiri in form of consort of Kalabhairav and third is in Pune as Tambadi Yogeswari.
About The Temple
Shri Yogeswari is an ancient temple of Goddess Durga, located at Ambhajogai. Yogeswari Aai is Kulaswamini (family goddess) of many families in Maharashtra especially of Konkanasta Chitpavan Brahmins and Karhade Brahmins. She protects the family from the evil and cares about her disciples.
The temple of the Goddess Yogeswari has been famous from ancient times. The structure is in Hemadpanti style. Adjoining the north gate is located the ‘Sarveswar Teerth’. Adjoining the west gate are the shrines of various deities. A festival is held here during Dussehra.
About The Deity
Yogeswari is Sanskrit which denotes "Goddess Durga". It is sometimes even pronounced as Jogeshwari or Jogeswari. Yogeswari is considered as matruka shakti (maternal power) of Lord Shiva. The name is derived from words Yoga and Eshwari. It means the controller of Yoga shakti.
The Devi idol is presented in a rock cut model called Thandala. Devi looks beautiful and reminds the Saptashrungi of Vani.

In the very morning at 5:00 on can hear loud bhajans (hymns) on the temple loud speakers. Sitting right in front of Shree Ambhajogai and offering abhishek (anointment) is the ultimate experience for devotees.
The Tambul Prasad at temple is the unique thing at this temple. It contains crushed paan (betel leaf).
