shaanta-kaaram bhujaga-shayanam
padma-naabham suresham
vishwa-dhaaram gagana-sadrisham
megha-varanam shubhaangam.
lakshmi-kaantam kamala-nayanam
yogi-bhi-dhyaana-agamyam
vande vishnum bhava-bhaya-haram
sarva-lokaika-naatham.
Meaning:
I sing acclaim to Lord Vishnu.
He who has the serene (shaanta-)
attitude and look (-kaaram).
He who dozes and rests (-shayanam)
on the serpents (bhujaga-).
He who has a lotus molded (padma-) navel (-naabham).
He who is the expert and master
of every last one of divine beings (suresham).
I go to the Lord Vishnu.
He who holds (-dhaaram) the
universe (vishwaa-) in his grasp.
He whose vision (-sadrasham) surpasses
past all the skies (gagana-).
He whose shade and appearance (-varanam) is
alterable as the mists (megha-).
What’s more he who is loaded with goodness (shubh-)
in each part (-aangam) of his physique.
I sing acclaim to the Lord Vishnu.
He who is the spouse (-kaantam)
of the goddess of riches (-lakshmi).
He whose eyes (-nayanam) are surreal
as a lotus blossom (kamala-).
What’s more he who yogis long to arrive at (-agamyam)
through contemplation (-dhyaana).
I sing acclaims (vande-) to the Lord Vishnu (-vishnum).
He who uproots (-haram) all our reasons for alarm (-bhaya)
because of our natural nature (-bhava).
What’s more he who is the expert (-naatham) of the
whole (-sarva) universe and creation (-lokaika).
