In this post, let us understand the meaning of Vishnu mantra and recite it.
shaanta-kaaram bhujaga-shayanam
padma-naabham suresham
vishwa-dhaaram gagana-sadrisham
megha-varanam shubhaangam.
lakshmi-kaantam kamala-nayanam
yogi-bhi-dhyaana-agamyam
vande vishnum bhava-bhaya-haram
sarva-lokaika-naatham.
Meaning:
I sing acclaim to Lord Vishnu.
He who has the quiet (shaanta-)
air and look (-kaaram).
He who rests and rests (-shayanam)
on the serpents (bhujaga-).
He who has a lotus formed (padma-) navel (-naabham).
He who is the expert and ruler
of every last one of divine beings (suresham).
I petition the Lord Vishnu.
He who holds (-dhaaram) the
universe (vishwaa-) in his grasp.
He whose vision (-sadrasham) surpasses
past all the skies (gagana-).
He whose color and look (-varanam) is
variable like clouds (megha-).
What’s more he who is loaded with goodness (shubh-)
in each part (-aangam) of his physique.
I sing acclaim to the Lord Vishnu.
He who is the spouse (-kaantam)
of the goddess of fortune (-Lakshmi).
He whose eyes (-nayanam) are surreal
as a lotus (kamala-).
What’s more he who yogis long to arrive at (-agamyam)
through reflection (-dhyaana).
I sing acclaims (vande-) to the Lord Vishnu (-vishnum).
He who evacuates (-haram) all our scared feelings (-bhaya)
because of our characteristic nature (-bhava).
What’s more he who is the expert (-naatham) of the
whole (-sarva) universe and creation (-lokaika).

This was the first sloka from vishnu sarasara nama learned from my grandma at age of 2. Everyday i used to telll this sloka before going to bed till my marriage. Thanks for giving meaning to this sloka
I think this is from Vishnu Sarasaranama and my first sloga learned from my grandma in 2-3years. When I compalint abt. the fear on night, my grandma ask to me to this sloga every night before going to bed. I was continuously doing that till my marriage.
