Sri Krishna Stories – Episode 2 – The Prophecy

In due course of time a son was born to Devaki and Vasudeva. Vasudeva kept is promise and took the baby to Kamsa.  Kamsa took the baby in his hand, glanced at it and gave it back to Vasudeva, as he was not scared of the first child. Vasudeva and Devaki were happy to have their child, but it did not last long.

One day, Narada visited Kamsa! The sage said “ You are really a great king. How easily you spared your nephew’s life! If I were in your place, I would not dare to take the risk as all of Devaki’s children will be capable of killing you”.  After sowing the seeds of suspicion in Kamsa’s mind, Narada vanishes from there. Without wasting a second and without a second thought Kamsa rushed to the prison and killed the baby. He killed every one of the six babies born to Devaki and Vasudeva.  The seventh Child was none other than Adishesha, another aspect of Narayana.  However this child was not destined to meet the fate of the previous 6 infants. The unborn child was miraculously transferred the womb of Rohini, another wife of Vasudeva, who had long been craving for a child of her own. The child was named Balarama.

Kamsa was informed that Devaki had a miscarriage and was relived thinking that she will not be able to bear the eighth child!

Lord Narayana decided that it’s time for him to be born.

It was transferred by Yoga Maya the miraculous divine power. She transferred the baby in Devaki’s womb to Rohini’s womb as per the command of Lord Vishnu.
