Thirupparamkunram Temple: The abode where God Skanda got married
Tirupparankundram is the ONLY Murugan or Skanda temple, where the deity is seated. Known famously for his travels and desire for wandering to visit and bless devotees, Skanda is always depicted gracing his devotees in a standing posture.
Skanda is seen here getting married to Deviyani or Devasena, Indra’s daughter and hence is seated during his wedding. Counted as one of six abodes of Muruga, Thirupparankundram is an amazing shrine where millions of devotees flock every year to seek the grace of Skanda, or Murugan. The kalyana kolam or wedding demeanor is truly an immersive experience.
Tiruparankundram is situated on a hillock about 8kms from Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
