Today while discussing Skanda and Sashti at work, one of our colleagues who is a spiritually elite person narrated a conversation between Kripananda variyar and his disciple about changing the name of Thiruparankundram and how Kripananda variyar reacted to it.

Here goes the story:

Once while Kripananda variyar was with his disciples, one of them asked him his view on ‘people talking about changing the name of Thiruparankundram to Sikkandar malai’. To everyone’s astonishment Kripanandavariyar said ” Its fine! if they wanted to change it they can! What’s wrong in changing it to Sikkandar malai? (சிக்கந்தர்  மலை ) Father of Muruga is Shiva so ‘Si’  (“சி”) Muruga is also known as Skandar (கந்தர்) hence sikkandar malai also holds good for the Abode of Lord muruga”.
